Knollenberg takes to the airwaves
to stop Jimmy Carter's freelance diplomacy
Former President Jimmy Carter has decided to meet with the terrorist group Hamas, despite clear U.S. policy not to negotiate with terrorists. Congressman Joe Knollenberg declared that Carter's actions are entirely unacceptable and introduced legislation to send Carter a clear message that his dangerous diplomacy must end.
Congressman Knollenberg's Coordinated American Response to Extreme Radicals Act (CARTER Act) prevents taxpayer dollars from funding the former president's Carter Center. To date, the center has received $19 million in federal funding
Hamas has used suicide bombers to target buses, supermarkets, and restaurants, rocket attacks against civilian populations, and guerilla attacks that have killed hundreds of innocent men, women and children. Hamas has even called for terrorists around the world to attack Americans.
Despite all this, Carter met with those terrorists and jeopardized our national security. Congressman Knollenberg has stood firm and declared that Carter must not meet with terrorists. What's more, he has called on Congress to speak out against Carter.
